Emmett – prayers needed!!!

My to-do list for today:

  • bring Sawyer to the doctor
  • register Noah for kindergarten
  • weekly appointment with our developmental specialist for Emmett
  • put another coat of paint on the two pieces of furniture I’m working on
  • watch the AI results show

Sometimes your schedule gets turned upside down.

Emmett had another seizure this morning.

Cue the fire trucks and ambulance.

He was admitted first to one hospital, then another.

His EEG showed continuing seizure activity, despite multiple doses of multiple anti-seizure medication.

Late this afternoon, our little boy was admitted to the PICU at Sacred Heart, where they put him into a medically induced coma to try to normalize his brain’s electrical activity. This included putting him on a ventilator.

So far the seizure activity still hasn’t stopped, and the latest drug they are trying is cardiotoxic.

Shortly after I left the hospital tonight (they won’t let you stay overnight if your child is on the ventilator), the ICU attending called and told me his blood pressure was sinking, and they were going to put in a central line. I asked if I needed to turn around and go back to the hospital – he said not yet.

Emmett’s medical condition hasn’t been this serious since right after his heart surgery.

Please pass this on if you can!

I was reading your blog and Mally saw Em’s pictures. When she asked what happened, I told her he has some bobos. So, in true toddler thinking, says that his Mommy just needs to get him some bandaids! Oh Riggie, if only it was that easy. We love you and are hoping this hospital stay is a short one.

  6. How scary. I am saying prayers as I type. Please keep us posted.
