The JCICS has put up their Standards of Practice for Vietnam up on their website.
They are asking all ASPs (adoption service providers) to sign on by Feb 25th, so they can present the Standards to Vietnamese authorities in early March.
I’d encourage all PAPs to contact their agencies and urge them to sign. Although I question how much, if any, real power this document (or the JCICS) has in terms of preventing unethical behavior by agencies….and I also wish that JCICS had incorporated all of Ethica’s suggestions into the Standards. BUT: I think it is a step in the right direction.
Anything at this point that could help adoptions in Vietnam continue sounds good to me.
