Kodi: our really really really bad dog

Y’all, I am so glad I decided to wait until Thursday to do Tail-Wagging Tuesday, ’cause if I had done it on time, I wouldn’t have this perfect, what’s the word, vignette maybe? to share, that pretty much says it all about our other dog Kodi, aka, not-our-favorite dog.

Let me set the scene for you:  close your eyes and imagine….my husband has been gone since early last week….my kids have been sick (like vomiting and cha-cha sick) since last Friday…today would be the first day of a certain time of the month, if you know what I mean….and I’ve had a sinus headache for about 2 weeks now. Are you with me so far?

I’m talking to Hunky, finding out that instead of getting home tomorrow around lunch like all the other crews on this trip, my husband will be then making a return trip to Somewhere Cold And Dark to pick up some more stuff before coming home again. So he won’t get home until around the kid’s bedtime. Which is not a big deal, but still – rarrr – this is probably one of the worst times of the day for him to come home – early enough to get the kids riled up right before bedtime, but late enough to miss all the kid-related chores. But I digress….

So I’m talking to him, and hear O calling from my room, where he has quiet time so that he can go to the bathroom without waking Y up. O has peed in his pants. Then I hear Y crying, so go to get him, and am hit with the cha-cha stench as I open his door.

We’re talking cha-chas all over the place.

So I change him, hang up the phone with Hunky, and, to get him to stop crying, ask if he wants to have a bubble bath. Through his tears, he says yes. So I bring them downstairs, start the bathwater, and run back up before getting them in the tub to grab the dirty diaper and sheets and clothes and blankets.

But wait…something’s missing. I don’t see the dirty diaper anywhere in the boys’ room. And why would I? WHY WOULD I WHEN KODI (DEFINITELY NOT MY FAVORITE DOG, AND NEVER WILL BE) HAS DRAGGED IT INTO THE PLAYROOM, WHERE SHE IS HAPPILY EATING THE CONTENTS WHILE MANAGING TO ALSO SPREAD THEM ALL OVER THE CARPET??!!!!

And that’s just the kind of dog Kodi is.

Here she is in younger days, but she looks exactly the same now

I’m not so sure you can call this a vignette, maybe a saga instead, but bygones.

**On the sick kids topic, O is actually feeling much better, and is back to his usual sweet self. Y, however, has had cha-chas for almost a week now, and has been just feeling rotten. If you pray, could you please pray that he would be feeling better soon? I just feel so bad for him, and so helpless to do anything but try to make him drink pedialyte, hold him for most of the day, and pray.

  1. Oh, your Kodi is our Simon. I feel your pain. Not the praying type, but sending whatever psychic good wishes your way that my feeble brain can harness.

OOOOOOH! KODI IS A TRASH MONKEY!! (can’t you just hear Eleanor yelling that?)

    Bad Kodi.

    Crappy day for Ren 😦

*BIG HUG for Ren and her sick boys*

Ahhh Eleanor…so much crazy, so many quotable sayings! My all time favorite will always be “get your s*** and get the $%^# out of here!” I think I heard her say that to Mike about a million times. Good times, good times.

  4. Ewww that is disgusting *LOL* Sorry you had to deal with that.

Ugh!!! How nasty!! We had a dog like that. Molly. A beagle.
She ate cat poop out of the litter box. She’d try to act all innocent, but she’d have litter on her nose!! Oh, and once she ate an entire bag of semi sweet chocolate chips…and lived to tell the tale!

Sorry Y is feeling bad. I hope he gets to feeling better soon!

Okay, that goes down as one Terrible, Horrible, No-Good Very Bad Day!!!! Prayers for your little one, hope he’s feeling better soon.

  7. Ugh,I feel awful for you! That sounds exactly like something our Rosie would do. She loves to eat poop and doesn’t care whose it is! We are in England too – London.

I’m praying for Y (you think the initials are hard for YOU? I already can’t keep my own kids’ names straight… trying to use initials for yours too…agh…my brain).

Anyhow, have you considered, I don’t know…feeding your dog some puppy chow or something? Clearly she’s starved if she’s eating dirty diapers…or she’s just not.right. I guess that’s a possibility too.

Sending well thoughts your way…though coming from the house of sickness, I’m not sure how much good they’ll do.
